Minimum Standards for Acceptance of Donated Computer Equipment

As The Bridge strives to eliminate the “digital divide” in Oberlin, we accept donated computer equipment that can be given to community members in need of technology.  However, to ensure the usefulness of donated equipment to members of the community, we ask that you donate only complete systems (computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse) in working order.

Minimum standards for accepting donated computer equipment:

* Core 2 Duo /i3, i5 or i7 GHz desktop or laptop, keyboard and mouse, minimum 4gigs DDR2, or DDR3 RAM CD-ROM drive, Ethernet NIC card, sound card and speakers, 250 GB or larger hard drive, Windows 7 or higher OS, 15" or larger SVGA Flat Screen monitors only.

* Mac Intel Core 2 Duo iMac, PowerBook, or iBook, keyboard and mouse, minimum 2Gigs MB RAM expandable to 4gigs, CD-ROM drive, Ethernet, System OS X 10.5.8 or higher OS, 250 GB or larger hard drive

Other "Standards-based" equipment:

Printers:

* 3 years old or less
* Inkjet or laser
* USB port or network connection
* Must be compatible with the above computer system minimal specifications

Other potential equipment donations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
